Shridharan Shekhar

Commodore S Shekhar is a graduate of the National Defence Academy, Kharkvasala, and the National Defence College, New Delhi. He also holds an M.Phil degree in Defence and Strategic Studies. An Electrical and Weapon Systems Engineer by qualification and a Submariner by specialisation, his appointments in the Indian Navy include a diplomatic assignment in Moscow, command of a naval base, and General Manager of a Naval Dockyard. After his premature retirement from the Navy, Commodore Shekhar has held positions of increasing responsibility in various pan-India organizations. Continuing his interest with matters maritime, Commodore Shekhar established the Chennai Chapter of the National Maritime Foundation, and is the convener of the Blue Economy Strategic Thought Forum, India (BEST For India) He is the co- Founder, along with Dr Rao Tatavarti, of the Centre for Advancement of Science, Technology, Law and Engineering (CASTLE), which facilitates students from educational institutions in Tier 2, and 3 cities to pursue research in cutting edge technologies, with a focus on defence applications. Commodore Shekhar is the Vice President of the Aerospace Industry Development Association of Tamil Nadu (AIDAT) which is engaging with various stake holders of the proposed Tamil Nadu Defence Corridor. Commodore Shekhar is also the Chairman of Technological Upgradation of Naval, Ground and Air (TUNGA) Services (Private) Ltd On the social activities front, Commodore Shekhar is the Charter President of Rotary Club of Madras Bay City, and a Past Master of Freemasons Lodge Srinivasa Gopala, No 190 on the rolls of the Grand Lodge of India.
