Dr Sarita Nagpal, former Deputy Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is an industry veteran with diverse work experience spanning nearly four decades.
During her 30 plus tenure at CII, she contributed to promoting TQM (Prof Yoshikazu Tsuda) (JUSE & AOTS certified), TPM(Nakajima Prize by JIPM), Innovation (Clayton Christensen approach), Theory of Constraints (TOC – Eli Goldratt). She is a certified faculty for Lead Auditor Training for ISO9000 by Batalas, UK and CII EXIM Award for Business Excellence Training by CII. She has trained more than 10,000 people over these years in primarily the manufacturing sector.
She was conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette by the Government of Japan in 2015 for disseminating the Japanese culture of manufacturing in India, as well as strengthening the economic relations and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and India.
Within India, Indian Society for Quality have recognised her contribution by conferring the “Harsha Award” for promoting and introducing TQM into companies leading to improvements in the businesses she has helped through TQM in Indian Industry.
SAE India Foundation recognises contribution to mobility technology. For the first time they instituted an award named as Dr Krishan Kumar award for Excellence in Quality in the memory of Krishan Kumar. It was conferred to Dr. Sarita Nagpal, former DDG, CII for her contribution to upgrading the component manufacturers in February 2020.
Her present role is to support Competitiveness Development Services and strengthen Indian Manufacturing by focusing on its development need. She plays a supportive role for business development and execution for the projects ie. Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing, Visionary SME and Good to Great.
Former Amb Purushottam had the honor to work with her in Brussels in obtaining the EC (European Commission)’s assistance in supporting the establihsemnt of ISO-TQM in India in the early 90s.
